The island nation of Grenada has three islands, Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique. We had a brief visit to Carriacou, but mostly anchored at Grenada near the capital of St. George.
Grenada is a cruiser’s black hole. The locals are friendly, protected anchorages, good provisions, affordable dinning and easy to get around. Cruisers of the Caribbean will stay the whole season, only leaving during hurricane season.
St. George is wonderful to wonder in….
Locals participating in the Grenada Sailing Week, sailing their workboats. They start from the beach. Sail around a few markers. The first boat that makes it to the beach, has a crew member run to the tent to slam a shot of rum to win the race. Good times!
